Backyard Décor Tips For A Small Budget

2/20/2017

Decorating the exterior of your home is one way to show your personality. There are quite some décor ideas that don’t put a bulge in your pocket. Changing your backyard into a beautiful, modern yard shouldn't cost a lot. In fact, the beautiful, million dollar garden designs seen in the magazine are made by designers who once used a creative design that involves cheap materials and is safe for the environment.

Get into a creative mode; examine the space available and what will be appropriate for it. Is it a large backyard you intend to spend a lot of your time in? Or your backyard lacks the appeal you want? Knowing what you expect your yard to look like and the functions you would need it to perform will assist your creative idea for landscaping. Several cheap backyard décor ideas can give you the backyard you desire.

Create Patterns With Ground Cover and Paver.

Ground cover and pavers can make your backyard look exquisite and have a great look. If your backyard has uncovered ground space, you can cover it up with broken or recycled pavers, choosing the design pattern you like. You can also plant creeping sedum or moss in between seams, by combining the two materials it makes you need less and saves money.

Creeping sedum spreads by itself, grows more when it gets the right amount of sunlight, doesn't need water as much, and that means it requires little or no maintenance. Another option is using lemon thyme to create a fragrant path; its growth is slow, it is edible and has a nice aroma when it is stepped on, of course, it requires minimal maintenance.

Ask Friends for Cuttings

There are varieties of plants and flowers that grow from cuttings of another plant. Buying seedlings, plants or bulbs from a nursery can be quite expensive. Before you do that, you might want to ask friends who have foliage that you admire, to help you out with small cuttings. Beautiful plants and flowers like butterfly bush and succulent grow well from cuttings and can give your yard the beauty it deserves.

Your Landscape Ideas Should Include Planters

You might have what you need to grow vegetables and flowers, so you don't need to buy planter or raised beds from a gardening store. A contemporary but inexpensive way to reuse your planters is to paint them with bold colors. If you decide to use a terracotta pot, you might want to soak them for an hour in water before you paint it with a water base paint. Gravel can also be used as it is a chic and cheap garden accent; gravel is durable, inexpensive and needs low maintenance. Gravel can be used where there is foot traffic; plants don't thrive, drainage problems or when you need a modern look.

Use Unexpected Materials for Your Backyard

Several functional materials can be recycled and give your backyard a unique look. They include wood scraps, corrugated steel, old copper or even found objects. The easiest way to implement the materials is by adding them to your patio wall or fence.
