Summer is the hottest time of the year, thanks to longer days and shorter nights. People want to make their days eventful and interesting especially during the summer break. Most times there might not be enough funds for a summer vacation but not to worry below is a list of backyard games, they are fun, and you spend a little or close to nothing to get them going.
1. Ring Toss Game
This game was invented in France and was mainly played in the circus and during carnivals. As the name implies all you have to do is toss the ring around and peg. The person with the highest number of rings is the winner. You can make it your own game and more fun for adults and kids by tweaking it a little. Instead of using pegs you can use a bottle. It will be referred to as “ring the bottle.” The bottle is filled with candy and whoever wins takes the content.
2. Fishing for Marble
After being invented in someone's backyard, the game has become popular over time. It is a favorite for kids in camp and on picnics, but you can bring it to your backyard and have fun. All you need is a tub of ice water and marbles, you divide the teams into groups, and each team gets to send a player to their tub for 30sec. When the thirty seconds have elapsed, the group with the most marble wins.

Yes as funny as the name sounds this game can also be fun. The height of the player's matters when it comes to playing in this game. All you need are cups and water. Everyone is divided into groups and arranged according to their height in descending order. Each player is given a cup, and only the first player has a cup filled with water, the water is subsequently passed to the player behind without looking at the position of the cup. This goes on till it gets to the last player. The group with the highest amount of water left in the cup wins the game.
4. Frozen T-shirt Race
Every age group can play this game. Wet t-shirts need to be squeezed and frozen. You can decide to divide the group according to their age differences or mix them up. The frozen t-shirts are handed over to the individual players. The winner is the first person who defrosts the ice on the t-shirt and wears it. You might need a timer for this one.

This game might be quite challenging to set up, but you will be glad you did. You will need wood, a bucket filled with water, a target, small balls and a chair. Pick anyone in the group to sit beneath the bucket of water as every other person throws balls at the target. When a ball hits the target the water in the bucket pours on whoever is sitting underneath at that time.
